CPQ #60

If you were given a $100 gift certificate to spend in any store, where would you choose to redeem it?

Ooh good question...I'm in need of a lot of new things!  It comes down to two main things:  a pair of good bum hugger jeans from Buckle or a fancy new bra from Victoria's Secret.  Either item would help the illusion that there was actually any shape there :)

CPQ #59

If you had to wear a button with a maximum of six words on it describing your outlook on life, what would your button say?

I love google ha ha...I would never have the creativeness on my own to find an inspiring mantra.  One that I found fits the six word limit perfectly:  "Pray more.  Fear less.  Live better."  [Shondriette Kelley]

CPQ #58

If you had to change your first name, what would you choose as your new name?

When I was younger, I liked lots of different names.  I would have given anything to change my name to something else.  Now that I'm older, I like my name and wouldn't change it.  But, for the sake of answering the question, my number one pick would be...Chelsea.  Do I look like a Chelsea?  Maybe?

CPQ #57

If you were completely deaf but were somehow about to hear for one hour each month, what would you most often want to hear for that hour?

I'd want to hear Jesse.  Hear him talk, hear him tell me he loves me, hear him laugh, hear him fart, hear him burp.  Anything would make me happy :)

CPQ #56

Everyone hears discussions that they consider boring.  What topic can put you to sleep more quickly than any other?

Politics.

CPQ #55

If all drinking fountains could dispense another liquid in addition to water, what would you want it to be?

Milk!

CPQ #54

What world record would you most want to establish if you could?

This was a very interesting question to contemplate...there are so many outlandish and interesting world records out there.  I'd definitely want mine to be unique.  But I will tell you want world record I don't want to be part of:  World's Longest Kissing Chain.  That's right, USU is planning to break this record on True Aggie Night as part of Homecoming week.  USU once held the record for the highest number of people kissing at one time; the record was later broken by another university.  This time around, they're wanting to set the bar for the Longest Kissing Chain.  Essentially they line you up boy-girl-boy-girl, you kiss the person in front of you and the person behind you.  Um, no thanks!  I was hoping to take Jesse to True Aggie Night so we could become True Aggies together but I want no part in this Kissing Chain business.

CPQ #53

What "moment of glory" have you watched another person celebrate that you too would love to experience if you could?

The experience that is most on my mind is graduating with a Bachelor's degree.  Working on campus in the Registrar's Office, we get to help all the students prepare for graduation.  I even had a student who, with a line of people behind him, handed in his graduation packet very dramatically and gasped, "Oh my gosh, I'm really graduating!"  I was annoyed at the time but it really is a big step.  College is important and I can't wait till I'm able to go back and earn my degree.

CPQ #52

If you could be the spokesperson for any product on the market, what product would you choose to enthusiastically represent?

Let me think about this in the most fiscally responsible way...I'd choose to represent milk!  Yes, I'd be added to the slew of other people on the Got Milk? campaign but it would so be worth it.  Jesse and I go through a ton of milk...enough for a family three times our size.  The most annoying thing is when we run out of milk (which happens all the time) but if I were the spokesperson for milk, I'd have a never ending supply.  How awesome would that be??

CPQ #51

What is one item you own that has virtually no monetary value but has such sentimental value that you would not sell it for $1,000?

Anything crocheted by my Granny Crompton.  She has 47 (and counting) great-grandchildren and has crocheted afghans for every one of them.  Since I was her first great-grandchild, I got more than just the standard afghans at birth and eight years old.  She made crocheted stuffed animals; I have two pigs and a panda bear.  To anyone else, they might look like grungy little things but I'd never ever get rid of them.

CPQ #50

If you could design any new ride or attraction for Walt Disney World, what would it be?

They already have all the greatest rides in the whole world at Disneyland, who could think of anything else??  Something that might be kind of cool is if they did something Finding Nemo related but they let you scuba dive among all sorts of fish.  I know they have the Nemo Submarine Ride but scuba diving would be wicked cool!

CPQ #49

What is something you really enjoy doing that is a chore or a bore for many people?

I love to vacuum.  So does Jesse.  We've even fought over who gets to vacuum (just because we didn't want to do other chores).  Looking at my house right this second, you wouldn't guess that vacuuming is my favorite.  It's a disaster.  Jesse tracked in mud from work yesterday and I've yet to clean it up.

CPQ #48

What is one event in the future whose outcome you would really like to know now?

Ooh, ooh, I know.  I'd want to know exactly how many kids Jesse and I end up with, if they're good lookin kids (I'm crossing my fingers) and if they are well behaved.  I think one reason I'm so baby hungry right now is because I want to use our names before anyone else does and I want to see how cute they are.  If I knew that our kids turn out alright and they're nice, not hellians, I'd probably cool it on wanting a baby right now :)

CPQ #47

If you were an airline pilot and were told to choose any route that you would have to fly for your entire career, what two cities would your flights connect?

This is an interesting question.  Normally, you'd think of a pilot having more freedom but I guess that's the point of these questions.  I'd choose...London, England and somewhere in Hawaii.  That way, I'd see very different cities at either end and a variety of weather.  I'd also get to fly over the continental U.S. and wave as I pass by.

CPQ #46

If you were to write a book, what would you choose as the topic?

Since falling in love with a dangerous vampire has been a little (ahem) over used lately, I'll steer clear of that.  I like murder mystery books.  It would be a page-turner, one you wouldn't want to put down.  I'd forget all the mushy love stuff; if you want something like that, pick up an Anita Stansfield.

CPQ #45

What is one piece of advice that you wish you could pass along to everyone else?

"Be true to yourself and the values you've learned while growing up.  Never doubt those values for a second; do this, and you'll never make a wrong decision."

CPQ #44

If you could have been there to witness any specific moment in sports history, what moment would you choose?

In my family, we are big sports people.  When it comes to baseball, we're Red Sox fans.  I would want to witness the 2004 World Series Game Four (the Red Sox won their first World Series in 86 years, breaking the "Curse of the Bambino").

CPQ #43

As the Christmas season approaches, what song is it that you just can't wait to hear?

Ah!  Where to begin??  I love all Christmas songs.  I'll name the first one that comes to mind...uh...Where Are You Christmas by Faith Hill.  Love it.

CPQ #42

If you had the ability to compete in any Olympic event, which one would you choose to enter?

I'd compete in the Summer Olympics and play tennis.  I played tennis in high school and did okay (considering I hadn't had private lessons since I was 3 years old like everyone else had).  Tennis isn't an easy boring sport like a lot of people think.  Especially if you played on an Olympic level.  They serve the ball with such force that you are literally sprinting back and forth on the court to stay in the game.  If I was able to play in the Olympics, that would mean that I was actually good at tennis, which would make me feel good :) I'd also get to wear a cute flouncy skirt and tank top and get a nice tan.

CPQ #41

If you were a professional artist, what would be the theme of your drawings/paintings?

Hmm...tough call, since I am nowhere near being an artist.  I'm not creative in any way, shape or form.  I'll make an attempt to sound like an artist here, however.  The theme would be Finding Beauty in Simple Things.  The drawings would range from portraits of people to flower-covered meadows to puppies playing in the yard.

CPQ #40

If you won $2 million tomorrow, what are the first three things you think you would do or buy as soon as you had the check in your hand?

First off, I'd put Jesse through helicopter flight school.  I know he wants to do it so badly but is hesitant because of the money.  I'd pay for it straight across; no loans or debt for us!!  Then I'd buy us a nice house in the perfect town where we'd both be happy.  We'd have to compromise a little, find a town that's not too big but not too small.  It would be a newer house, nothing mansion-like, but big enough to live comfortably and have room for the five kids we'll have.  Lastly, we go on a dream vacation.  I'm not sure where we'd go exactly because there are a lot of dreamy vacations out there.  But we'd vacation in style, no holding back on where we stay, the food we eat or the fun activities we'll do!!

CPQ #39

Besides your real birthday, what is one other date on the calendar that you think would have been a great day to be born?

Sometime in October, most definitely.  I love fall and October is my favorite month!  As far as a day in October...it would be the 23rd.  My birthday is on the 23rd already but I'd want to keep it there :)
(In my family, my mom and I have noticed that all our birthdays are 1's, 2's or 3's.  Case in point: Dad was born on the 23rd, Mom was born on the 1st, I was born on the 23rd, Zach was born on the 11th, and Drew was born on the 23rd.  Kinda cool, huh?  We've also come to the conclusion that everyone was born in an odd year except my mom.  Stuff like that happens when you're a numbers nerd!)

CPQ #38

What is the most interesting course you have ever taken in school?  On the other hand, what is the most boring course you have ever taken in school?

Most interesting class would be Culinary Arts that I took senior year of high school.  It was the most interesting and most relevant; cooking food is important, ya know!  It went beyond basic baking skills and we even took a fieldtrip to Las Vegas to a fancy chef school (very cool).  For a while after I graduated, I was obsessed with wanting to become a chef.  Don't know what ever happened to that dream, though.

Most boring class ever taken was Sociology 1010 from SUU.  Yes I know that people are different; different cultures, different religions, different languages.  Our teacher was from Canada and read to us straight from the textbook.  It was hard not to fall asleep.  Jesse and I would try to find humor in it though; his Canadian accent slurred words a bit.  Our favorite one to make fun of was the word "class".  Most people, when saying this word, have more of an emphasis on the last three letters.  Our teacher would pronounce it "closs".  He would completely remove the "ah" sound from the "a"; he was essentially saying "gloss" but with a "c".  At least I learned something from this class:  Canadians talk funny.

CPQ #37

What type of service to others or good deed done for other people do you personally find the most rewarding?

I like interacting with elderly people.  Whether it's just visiting them or providing services to them, I feel better after being around them.  (Most) elderly people are so sweet and funny; they love telling stories and I learn a lot from them.

CPQ #36

If you could become fully enlightened instantly on any one subject, which subject would you choose?

Cooking.  Most definitely.  Just ask Jesse; he'll tell you I'm the worst wife ever because I don't cook real food.  I know how to cook basic things, I just don't have time/energy most nights to cook a real meal.  My poor husband...still eating like a college student.  I feel that if I learn more about cooking, not just basic stuff but fancy schmancy stuff, I'll find it easier and more enjoyable to cook real food.

CPQ #35

Suppose that income taxes still had to be paid, but instead of going to the government, your tax dollars would go to any cause or charity of your choice.  Assuming the money would have to go to the same place each year, where would you want it to go?

Definitely the Make-A-Wish Foundation.  These kids with life threatening illnesses still have so much ahead of them; they still have hopes and dreams and goals.  Once they become adults, society pushes them in the direction of "the norm" even if that's not what they want.  Adults begin to doubt themselves and think, "It was silly of me to wish for those things."  If these kids want to be astronauts, let them meet an astronaut!  If they want to be a pro wrestler, let them meet a pro wrestler!  Wishes need to be granted, not stepped on.

CPQ #34

If you had to be of a different ethnicity than you actually are, to which heritage would you most like to belong?

I've never thought about this before.  I'd say Italian (is that a race and an ethnicity?).  Italian heritage is full of art and yummy food :)  You can't go wrong with that.

CPQ #33

If you had to spend an entire summer working at one of our country's national parks or historic sites, which one would you choose?

Here I am googleing again, to see exactly how many national parks there are and which ones I've already been to.  According to Wikipedia (ask any college professor, he'll tell you it's not a reliable source), there are 58 national parks in the United States.  I've been to five of them: Arches, Bryce Canyon, Grand Teton, Yellowstone and Zion.  There are two others in Utah that I haven't been to (Canyonlands and Capitol Reef).  Obviously I've been slacking.  Taking a quick glance through the list, I'd pick Redwood National Park.  Those trees are insanely massive and I'd feel like I was in a jungle working there.

CPQ #32

If you were making a list of the five things (not people!) that make you happiest in your life, what five things would you write down?

  1. Puppies/dogs
  2. Babies (this applies to all babies)
  3. Food
  4. Warm weather
  5. Hugs and kisses from Jesse :)

CPQ #31

Who is the most famous person you have ever met?

I met Govenor Jon Huntsman once.  He came to Cedar when the 222nd National Guard Batallion (that my dad was in) was being deployed to Iraq.  My mom spoke at the huge conference and we got to meet him afterwards.

CPQ #30

If you were given the opportunity to be an apprentice to any person, living or deceased, from whom would you want to learn?

Good question.  After googleing (is that a word?) the 50 most famously successful people, I've decided that I'd want to apprentice to Thomas Edison.  There's a billboard on I-15 featuring Edison.  A very important lesson can be learned from his failures:  try, try, try again and something good will come of it.

CPQ #29

What is the c-c-c-coldest you have ever been in your life, and what is the (whew!!!) hottest you have ever been in your life?

We'll start with the hottest ever...that would be everyday!  Ha ha joking...Jesse and I got married in August (which is pretty hot in Southern Utah).  After the wedding, we went to Florida for our honeymoon (which is even hotter).  I was still getting used to wearing garments...add 90+ degree weather and 100% humidity...it wasn't pretty.  I don't know why I bothered getting ready because I sweated all my makeup off and sweated clear through my clothes.  Actually, the cruise part wasn't too bad (since we just wore swim suits the whole time) but in Florida, it was really bad!

I'm cold all the time, just ask Jesse.  Once it hits November, you'll always see me bundled in my coat.  We survived our first Logan winter and it was about the same as winters in Cedar.

CPQ #28

If you were to die tomorrow, what would you want people to remember you for most of all?

I'd want people to remember me as a friendly, bubbly person.  I can have quite the mood sometimes but I try to be nice most of the time... Maybe we should take a vote.  How would you remember me?

CPQ #27

What age when you turned it -- was the most difficult for you to accept?  On the other hand, which of your birthdays do you remember anticipating with the greatest amount of enthusiasm?

I don't think to this point in my life that I've ever been in denial of my birthday.  The birthday I looked forward to most was my 21st.  When people ask your age and it's under 21, they act like you're this young pip squeak who has no clue.  But once you hit the magic number, everything's different.  I also looked forward to my 21st birthday because I was getting married three weeks later :)

CPQ #26

If you could change the ending to any movie you have ever seen, what movie would it be and how would you alter the way it ends?

First movie that comes to mind:  Titanic.  This movie came out when I was in third grade and I remember bawling the first time I saw it.  Nobody likes sad endings, especially ones where a main character dies.  If I were able to change the ending of that movie, I'd let Jack and Rose be together forever.  I know, I know, he teaches her important life lessons in a matter of days and she becomes a better person for having known him but I'd still want them to grow old together.

CPQ #25

When was the last time you laughed so hard that you cried?

Jesse would kill me if he knew I was posting about this but the last time I laughed so hard that I cried was because of him.  It couldn't have been more than a week ago.  We were sitting at the table eating dinner when all of a sudden, he farted so loud!  I have to give a little bit of background:  Jesse is weird about farting.  In my family, it's hilarious but in his family, you don't even say that word.  For the first year of our marriage, he would never pass gas in front of me.  Ever.  Then, we hit our one year mark and he's tooting all the time!  I always tease him about it when I catch him and he gets embarrassed a little.  I don't know why this time at the dinner table was so much funnier than all the other times but I about choked on my food, I was laughing so hard!  It took a good ten minutes for me to calm down enough to stop crying.

CPQ #24

Aside from any family occurrence (marriage, special anniversary, birth of a child, etc.), what event or accomplishment would you consider to be the highlight of your life thus far?

Hmm...well if it can't be our wedding anniversary or other special anniversaries (the proposal), I'd say the best event of my life so far would be the day I met Jesse.  I know that sounds extremely corny and maybe it is but my life is all about him.  The day I met him was the same day of our first date; it was a pretty random date but I still fell for him ;)

CPQ #23

On a scale of one to ten (with one being not at all and ten being very much so), how superstitious are you?

One.

CPQ #22

If you could bring back any tradition that seems to have faded into the past, what tradition would you bring back?

This will be about a family tradition rather than a well-known tradition.  We always had a lot of family around while growing up in Cedar City.  Grandma and Grandpa Shirley lived in Cedar and most of my aunts, uncles and their kids lived in Cedar, too.  Every Sunday night, we'd have game night and real popcorn (not the microwave kind, the kind you cook in vegetable oil).  All the adults would play games on the front porch while all the cousins would run around having fun.  I miss those days.  As time went on, more and more aunts and uncles moved away.  Sunday night gatherings would still happen but it just wasn't as big a thing as it once was.  I hope that someday ALL my family can live closer together so we can go back to having Sunday game nights!

CPQ #21

What is the best piece of advice you have ever received in your life?

I don't know word for word the best piece of advice but it goes something like this, "If you do things on your own time and for the right reasons, you'll never make a wrong decision."  My parents have said something to this effect throughout my whole life; I've always been stubborn and do things when I'm good and ready.  If I felt good about doing something, I'd know I was making a right choice.  There was a phase of my life that I'm definitely not proud of where I lost my stubborness and I let people pressure me.  Bowing to peer pressure lead to very poor decisions.  A few months before I met Jesse, I made a new friend, Paige, who helped me out of that rut and I've regained my stubborness.  I take my time when it comes to making choices and I know that my choices are right :)

CPQ #20

If you could "uninvent" any past invention, which one would it be? (Consider all the ramifications of eliminating this invention.)

Surprisingly, I'd want to uninvent cell phones.  Funny coming from someone who was absolutely obsessed with texting all through high school but really, people can do without all that.  Every two weeks there's another model of the latest and greatest "smart phone" and calling plans are outrageously expensive.  I'll admit--there are times when cell phones are very convenient but society survived for 1900 years without them.
